Model for pervaporation: application to ethanolic solutions of aroma

Résumé

Pervaporation data of ethanolic solutions of linalool, in various operating conditions, are presented to test the efficiency of the transfer model based on the Thermodynamics of Irreversible Processes (TIP). This approach leads to the calculation of the observed permeation flux by means of phenomenological coefficients which reflect coupling effects between each permeant and the membrane material, as well as the coupling effects between the permeants themselves. Experimental results allow to estimate groups of phenomenological coefficients and the influence of the operating conditions on them. This first presentation proves a good fitting of the theoretical description on the experimental results and, particularly, the efficiency of this approach to account easily for pervaporation of several permeants.
